Artists
Invited to Show Work at Maple River Winery in Casselton, ND
Beginning January 1, 2007, the Maple
River Winery in historic downtown Casselton will showcase North
Dakota artists. Four or five artists will be shown in two-month
increments. North Dakota artists are invited to display their art.
Space is available on a first-come, first served basis.
The first Friday of each showing features a free wine and cheese
reception, compliments of Maple River Winery, from 5pm to 8:30pm.
Flavored coffees, jellies, other ND products will also be served.
The event will be marketed throughout the Fargo-Moorhead metro area.
The exhibits should be set up by the second of
the month; exhibits will should be taken down on the last day of
the second month. The winery will not insure any items, and will
not be responsible for any breakage or thefts. Items may be sold
at the Winery during the exhibit, providing the Winery receives
a commission on each item sold (10% suggested, negotiable). Artists
will be responsible for any shipping etc. if needed.

Donations
of Artwork Needed for Silent Auction Fundraiser
Donation
of artwork is requested for a silent auction to raise funds for
Elizabeth Hacker, who has been suffering from severe illness. All
proceeds will go toward medical bills associated with her illness.
Organizers are asking for donations of paintings, sculpture, jewelry
or other art objects.
The silent auction will take place
at Suite 49 Restaurant on Sunday, December 17 from 5:00 –

Elizabeth Hacker, wife of Senator Nicholas
Hacker, has been suffering from Hemophagocitic Lymphohsitiocytosis
(HLH), a very rare disease, since early September, and has been
in and out of comas since that time. She has undergone many surgeries
due to the illness, including the removal of most of her stomach.

SOPRANO LOUISE PINKERTON
Awarded Grant from NDCA
Louise
Pinkerton, soprano has been awarded a $450 professional development
grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA). The
NDCA professional development program is designed to benefit artists
by providing financial assistance for informational/educational
opportunities relating to the arts. The funding comes from a grant
to the NDCA from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The award will help Pinkerton attend a study and audition trip to
New York City. “I am delighted to get this funding from the
North Dakota Council on the Arts," says Pinkerton. “This
grant program makes it possible for artists to advance their careers
through study with master teachers outside our community while still
living and teaching in North Dakota.”
Pinkerton is an active performer in operas, musicals, oratorios,
and recitals and has been named “one of North Dakota’s
outstanding young singers.” She is a rostered Artist in Residence
with the NDCA, teaches music at Minnesota State University Moorhead
and the University of North Dakota, and works with private students
in Grand Forks and Moorhead. Pinkerton is the national winner of
the Vivian Menees Nelson Award and a two-time Metropolitan Opera
Auditions regional finalist.
The NDCA as a state agency responsible for the support and development
of the arts and artists throughout North Dakota. The North Dakota
Council on the Arts receives funding from the National Endowment
for the Arts, the state of North Dakota, and interest income from
the North Dakota Cultural Endowment Fund.

National
Endowment for the Arts
The National Endowment for the Arts supports excellence in the arts,
bringing the arts to all Americans, and providing leadership in
arts education. Established by Congress in 1965 as an independent
agency of the federal government, the Endowment is the nation's
largest annual funder of the arts, bringing great art to all 50
states, including rural areas, inner cities, and military bases.
North
Dakota Council on the Arts
The North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) is a service and
program agency of the state, established in 1967 by the State Legislature
to develop the arts and promote the support of the arts in North
Dakota. The NDCA provides grant funds made available by the National
Endowment for the Arts and appropriations from the state of North
Dakota.

American Music Center
The American Music Center (AMC) is a national service and information
center for new American music, offering a monthly web magazine about
new music; an online library and listening room; a professional
development program; a monthly listing of new-music opportunities
for AMC members; grantmaking programs; and the American Music Center
Collection at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

Symphony Orchestra League
The American Symphony Orchestra League provides leadership and service
to American orchestras while communicating to the public the value
and importance of orchestras and the music they perform. The League
serves more than 850 member symphony, chamber, youth, and collegiate
orchestras of all sizes; links a national network of thousands of
musicians, conductors, managers, board members, volunteers, staff
members, and business partners; and provides services, information,

Chamber Music America promotes artistic excellence and economic
stability within the profession, and ensures that chamber music,
in its broadest sense, is a vital part of American life. Chamber
Music America works to ensure that chamber music serves as a model

lives to this art form, and that opportunities for the performance

The Actors' Fund of America provides for the social welfare of all
