2012 ART & WINE WALK
The North Valley Arts Council and the Greater Grand Forks Convention and Visitors Bureau present the 2013 season of Art & Wine Walk. This year is the seventh year! Every Walk is the third Saturday every month from June-October.
Dates: June 15, July 20, August 17, September 21, and October 19. Each walk is from 1-5 pm. Tweet while you walk! Let others know what places you've been, where your favorite wine or hors d'ouevres are, and how much fun you're having! All you have to do is log onto Twitter on your smart phone, post a new comment and add #awwgrandforks at the end. I had to write and tell you about the most magical thing that happened the other day. After much persuasion, I managed to talk my mother and father into attending an Art & Wine Walk. My husband and I have only missed one Art & Wine Walk (because of our wedding) but my parents rarely attend this sort of thing. They. Loved. It. After going to every stop, my father, a humble hardworking man, proud as punch, won the River City Jewelers pearl necklace (at the champagne reception at the Empire) and walked up to get his prize in his signature overalls. Two days later, mom and dad celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary - the Pearl Anniversary. WHAT IS ART & WINE WALK?
Stroll through downtown Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, view artwork by local artists at galleries, restaurants, and other businesses, and enjoy samples of wine or other non-alcoholic refreshment. Most artwork is available for sale, and artists will be on-hand to discuss their work.
The Art & Wine Walk (an adult event) begins at the Blue Moose Bar & Grill in East Grand Forks or the GuestHouse Town House Inn at 710 1st Avenue North in Grand Forks. (Insider tip: If you want to avoid lines, start at the Guesthouse) Maps can be purchased for $15 any time between 1-4:15pm. There is a champagne reception, sponsored by the Greater Grand Forks Convention and Visitors Bureau, at the Empire Arts Center at 5pm with the chance to win any of 7 gift baskets, donated by participating Art & Wine Walk businesses. Patrons also receive a free wine glass at the champagne reception. Those over 21 will receive a wristband, allowing participation in wine tasting. Active Military with valid ID receive $5 off. Children under 12, accompanied by an adult, receive free admission. The Art & Wine Walk is organized by the North Valley Arts Council and the Greater Grand Forks Convention and Visitors Bureau.
